In the heart of Omaha, where daily life moves quickly and

Situated near Gene Leahy mall, UNMC, Creighton University, and the upcoming Omaha streetcar, the building operates as a collective where healthcare, learning, and living overlap. Transparency at the ground plane dissolves thresholds between clinic and city, inviting movement inward and outward, and reframing care as something continuous rather than episodic.

At its core, the project is a collection of healthcare clinics, an accessible,
welcoming front door to healthcare for downtown residents who have historically lacked convenient options. Above the clinical spaces, cross-generational housing connects medical students/young professionals and senior citizens in a shared environment centered on care and connection. Units prioritize adaptability and dignity, while collective spaces - kitchens, terraces, and lounges - act as connective tissue, encouraging informal exchange and new relationships. Here, connection is ambient, and community is built through routine encounters and close proximity rather than prescribed events.

Wellness, in this project, is embedded in circulation, shared moments,
material warmth, and the presence of greenery and daylight. Courtyards and terraces carve out moments of pause within the density of downtown, allowing body and mind to recalibrate. Copper façade panels represent the demographic and aging of the community. By layering care, education, and dwelling, the building becomes a micro-ecology of support, where wellness is sustained not only by treatment, but by community.

for the physical model, we chose to use actual copper, using ammonia and salt to patina it, as well as hand-etching the paneling pattern.
